Questions.

Short, plain answers to what therapists and practice owners ask us most: how to get started, what happens to your online booking, what owning your website means, life after it's live, and keeping it safe.

Getting started

Do I need to know anything technical?

No. We do all of it. You review and say yes.

What do you need from me to get started?

Very little. Your website address for the free check. Later, a few logins for your web address and current website, and we'll walk you through each one. Then a quick review of the pages.

How does the free website check work?

You send us your website address. You get a simple report: what's working, and what might be costing you clients. It's free, and there's no obligation. Get a free website check.

What does it cost?

One payment. No monthly fees. We'll give you a clear, fixed quote after your free check. Two ways to work with us.

What if I don't like the preview?

You pay nothing.

Which states do you work in?

All of them. We work with practices across the US, mostly by video call and email.

Your booking & your clients

Will my online booking change?

No. Your booking system, schedule and booking link stay exactly as they are, whether that's SimplePractice, TherapyNotes, Jane or something else.

Will my website go down while you work on it?

No. Your current website and your online booking keep running the whole time. We only switch over once you've reviewed the new website and said yes.

Do you need to get into my booking system?

No. We only need the link to your booking page, so the "Book now" button opens it. Your schedule and client records stay in your booking or records system, and we never see them.

Which booking systems do you work with?

Any system with an online booking page: SimplePractice, TherapyNotes, Jane, Headway, Alma, Zocdoc or whatever you use. Your "Book now" button simply opens it. If you don't book online yet, we'll make it easy for people to call or email instead. Ask us during your free check.

Do you work with insurance-based clinics?

Yes. We build a clear insurance page that lists the plans you're in network with, explains out-of-network benefits and superbills, and covers Good Faith Estimates for self-pay clients, so your front desk gets fewer calls.

Owning your website

What does "you own it" actually mean?

The website and the account it lives on are put in your practice's name. Like getting the keys. If you ever want to work with someone else, you take it with you. Renting vs owning.

Is there really no monthly fee?

Yes. The only ongoing cost is your web address, about $20–30 a year, which you likely already pay.

Can I keep my web address?

Yes. Your practice keeps the same web address, so your business cards, Google listing and old links all keep working.

What happens to my email?

It keeps working. Your email is separate from your website, and we take care not to change anything connected to it.

What if I stop working with you?

Nothing happens to your website. It's in your practice's name, it stays online, and you can take it to anyone you like.

After it's live

What if I want changes later?

Make simple edits yourself, join the care plan, or ask us for a one-off update.

How do I change my hours or fees?

With the easy editor. You open the page, change the words and save. No tech skills needed. Or send us a note and we'll do it.

What is the care plan?

It's optional. We make updates for you, like new hours, a new clinician or a change to your fees or insurance plans. Cancel any time; the website stays yours.

Will I show up on Google straight away?

It can take a while for Google to catch up after any website change. We set up the behind-the-scenes details so Google and AI assistants like ChatGPT know who you are, what you offer and where you are. We won't promise a top spot. Nobody honestly can.

Security & privacy

What do you do to keep my website secure?

Every website we build has 12 protections built in, in five groups. Nothing to break into: no WordPress, no plugins, no database, and nothing to patch in a panic. Locked down from the outside: the padlock on every page, strict rules about what your pages may do, and a global network that soaks up attacks. Private by default: no client information stored, a careful contact form that never asks for health details, and no tracking cookies. Your keys, your locks: accounts in your practice's name with two-step sign-in, your web address locked and your email protected from scammers. Watched and easy to undo: every change recorded, any version back in one click, and a written security checklist at handoff. See all 12 protections.

Why is a website with nothing running behind it safer?

Every page is prepared ahead of time and sent as a simple, finished file. There's no software running behind your website for attackers to break into, and nothing that needs an emergency update at 2am.

Can my website still be hacked?

No website can promise it will never have a problem. What we can promise is that there's very little to attack, nothing of your clients' stored on it, and a quick way back if anything goes wrong. How we keep it safe.

Is my website HIPAA compliant?

Your website should never hold private health information in the first place. Ours don't: no client records, no intake, and no contact form that asks for health details. We don't give legal advice, so check your overall compliance with your advisor.

Is my current contact form a privacy risk?

It might be. If your form invites people to describe what they're going through, their health information goes through and sits in that form tool, often one that hasn't agreed to protect health information the way HIPAA expects. That can raise HIPAA concerns, so check with your compliance advisor. Our forms ask only for a name, an email and a short message, with a gentle note not to include health details. Is your contact form a HIPAA risk?.

Do you store my clients' information?

No. Bookings, intake forms and client records stay in your booking or records system. Your website never holds them. If your website has a contact form, it asks only for what you need, sends straight to your inbox, keeps nothing on the website, and reminds people not to send health details. There are no tracking cookies, no ads and no selling data. Our privacy page.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Every change to your website is recorded, so there are no backups to remember. If something ever looks wrong, the last good version comes straight back in one click. On the optional care plan, we keep watching: that it's up, that the padlock is valid, and a regular safety check.

Was my website affected by the PHP security problem?

If your site runs on WordPress (or Drupal or Joomla), it uses PHP and needs the October 2026 update. Our free check tells you what your site is built on. Sites we build don't use PHP, so this kind of attack can't reach them. Read the WordPress explainer.

Why is there no monthly fee?

Most websites run software on a computer all day, building each page when someone visits. That computer and its software are what you pay for every month, and what has to be patched. Ours are finished pages. Storing and sending finished pages costs a hosting network so little that the big ones offer it free for a website the size of a practice's. It's the same reason it's safer: nothing running means nothing to pay for and nothing to break into. The only ongoing cost is your web address, about $20–30 a year, which you likely already pay.

What if the free hosting plan changes?

The website is yours. Finished pages can be moved to almost any host, and we'll help.

Is the free website check really free? Why?

Yes. It's how we meet practices. We'd rather show you than sell to you. You owe nothing unless you choose to go ahead. Get a free website check.

Want answers about your own website?

The free website check looks at your practice's website the way a new client would, and tells you what's working and what isn't, in plain words.
